Weekend in Nashville

This past weekend I flew to Nashville to visit my best friend from college Mandy, her husband David, and baby Grayson! This was the first time that I was able to meet Grayson and this little guy stole my heart!!!

He was super excited that he got to spend his 6 month birthday with his aunt Shannon! Ha!!! My flight got to Nashville late Friday morning so we went for an early lunch before heading to their house for a great afternoon of catching up! That night we went to see the movie "Love Happens." It was good, but definitely a tear jerker in places. We wanted to see "All About Steve" but it was the only movie in the whole theatre was sold out! Go figure!!!

Saturday morning, David made us the best banana and chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast! Then we loaded up for a quick tour of homes and a stop at the Loveless Cafe.

There are some homes in Nashville that are absolutely gorgeous!!! My favorite was definitely Alan Jackson's. If you are a fan of The Food Network, then you have probably heard of the Loveless Cafe. It is known for its down-home cooking but mostly for the biscuits. "The Biscuit Lady",Carol Fay, has been on shows like "Throw Down with Bobby Flay"and "Martha Stewart" for her biscuit making skills! I was so excited to go see the place and try one of the world famous biscuits! Little did I know that Carol Fay herself would be behind the counter when we placed our order! I should have asked to take a picture with her but I was so excited I wasn't thinking!
Oh my word, they were so good!!!! They came with homemade peach, strawberry, and blackberry preserves. Yumm!!! The cafe also had a gift shop so I bought a set of the preserves to bring home. Next, we were off to the zoo!

Obviously, it was a busy day! Ha!!! I had to come home on Sunday, so we went to church and out to lunch before it was time to head to the airport. I had such a good time! I wish that Nashville and Fayetteville weren't so far away so that we could see each other more often!!!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Football season is finally here and I could not be more excited!!!! I always get excited for football, but this year is extra special. This summer, we had three football players work for us at Bizys and during two-a-days we did catering for the whole football team once a week. So now, I kind of feel like I have 105 little brothers that I'm about to watch play football! Ha! I use the word "little" very lightly because there are lots of BIG boys on this team!!! I won't even try to explain to you how much food it takes to fill them up! Here are some pictures of how we decorate for the caterings.
So, we may go a little bit over-board but the boys always tell us we are their favorite! Ha! I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with our decorating and everything to do with my dad's BBQ ribs and because we make them this for dessert:

Nothing says "Go Hogs" like homemade icecream! Ha!

I just can't wait for College Game Day and all the games leading up to the Hogs taking the field! Let the most wonderful time of the year officially begin!!!

HAIR

I got my hair cut and colored today (which meant I got to leave work early...woohoo!!!)! I didn't do anything different with the cut, but we changed up the color. It is a lot darker and has quite a bit more red in it. It's actually pretty close to my natural color, it has just been a while since I've had it this dark so it's going to take some getting used to. I think I like it though!

I know I have been the worst blogger EVER lately!!! This weekend I am going to try to get you caught up on what's been going on with me. Then, I am going to do my best to be better at this!

TODAY Throws a Wedding

I am and will always be a Good Morning America girl. I don't think I have ever watched the TODAY show one time! Because of that, I had no idea that they are in the midst of a contest where an engaged couple can win a dream wedding. So you can imagine my surprise when my dad called me this afternoon to tell me that his cousin's daughter and her fiance are one of the final TWO couples left in the competition!!!!
This is Leigh and Nick. How cute are they!?!?! They have a great love story too. Leigh was an amazing track star at Texas Tech. She holds two Division I National Championships and was able to go to the Olympic Development Program to train for the Olympic trials. It was there that she met Nick, who was a track star at Ashland University. It sounds like a super sweet "love at first sight" type story, but dating other athletes at the Program was not allowed. Once the secret about their relationship was uncovered, they were forced to quit. Now, they coach track together at Ashland University. They have been together for over 5 years and are hoping for their dream wedding to come true! If you would like to read more about them or VOTE for them to win, go here. I really hope they win!!!!!

The Road to Omaha

The month of June has been a busy one and mostly filled with baseball. I know that's not a big surprise coming from me! The goal of every team, every year is to end up here

Needless to say, I was THRILLED when the Hogs won their Regional and Super Regional tournaments to qualify as one of only 8 teams that get to go to Omaha!!! I was able to go to Norman, OK to watch the Regionals, but didn't check my camera batery before I left so I ended up with no pictures from that weekend. But it was still so much fun! As soon as it was official that the Hogs were headed to Omaha, I knew that I was too. I have been wanting to go for several years! Here are some of the sites from the College World Series:

"The Road to Omaha"statue in front of the stadium.

This was for my dad. He loves Erin Andrews! Ha!

A view from inside the stadium before a game.

Me, Ashley, and Sarah ready to cheer on the Hogs!

A view from inside the stadium during the game. There were SO many people there!

Us on the jumbo-tron!!! I got cut out, but you see Justin (taking the picture), Ashley and Sarah.

Hangin' out after the game. I think we were plotting the "Who's got the boot?" sign that we wanted to make to taunt the LSU fans we had to endure during the game!!!

I have no explanation for this picture other than it had been a long day! Ha!

This is a picture of "the" homerun in the 9th inning of the Hogs vs Virginia that tied the game and sent it to extra innings! That was one of the best games of the whole year!

The massive rain storm that caused a three hour rain delay before the final game.

The final team huddle after the last game was over. So sad!!!!

I hated to see the Hogs' post-season run come to an end, but was so proud of them for being one of the final four teams in the country competing for the National Championship! Not a bad way to go out at all! I am so glad I was able to go to Omaha to be a part of it and can't wait to go back next year...Go Hogs!!!!!

Extreme Makeover: Restaurant Edition

Over the weekend, Bizys got an extreme tabletop makeover! We had been planning it for a while and they were finally finished and ready to be installed. I am so happy with how they turned out!
The makeover process was pretty impressive. Two guys came in and had all of them installed in an hour. When you think about removing the old tops and bolting on the new ones for all booths and free standing tables, that's a lot of work. I think it was well worth it!
